We’re eating gourmet for only $37 this week!

Here’s the challenge, feed your family for $35 per week!

I need nutritious, delicious and not time at all!  So I”m using the book, “Taste of Home: simple & delicious cookbook.”  You get:

  • 12 weekly meal plans
  • weekly shopping list
  • I bought my copy at Wal-mart for $15.95. 

 Or you might try using the Busy Cook’s Pyramid.   You could also use this free meal planner!  You might wish to store your plans in a 3 ring binder, and at the end of the year, you’ll have a year’s worth of fast, inexpensive meal plans for my family related to the seasons!


  • Week 1 – 5 Dinners: Salsa Fish, Garlic Chx ‘n’ Gravy, Ginger-Apple Pork Chops, Southwestern Skillet Burgers, Grilled Rib Eyes. 
  • Shopping List at Walmart (that’s where I shopped this week… April 7, 2009)
  • Chx & groung beef (free in my freezer)
  • 6 boneless pork loin chops (3.38)
  • Chuck Tender Steak (4.26)
  • 2 lb Haddock (4.34)
  • 1 envelope taco seasoning (.47)
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (.63)
  • 1 can condensed bean w/bacon soup (1.16)
  • 1 can apple pie filling (1.42)
  • 1 jar salsa (1.37)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (1.50)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (1.50)

Additional Items

  • 3 bags frozen vegetables 1.00 each (3.00)
  • lg frozen pizza (3.33)
  • lg bag chex mix (2.78)
  • Great Value Box of Mac-n-Cheese (.50)
  • Teddy Grahams (2.00)
  • orange juice (2.50)
  • 2% milk, gallon (2.86)
